Review the fair housing discrimination complaint procedure. Designated as Fair <br />Housing Month, an annual advertisement is placed in The Sanford Herald in the <br />® month of April each year. (Second Quarter 2009) <br />IV. Will the above activities apply to the total municipality or county? <br />Yes X No_ (If no, provide explanation.) <br />V. Describe grantee's method for receiving and resolving housing discrimination <br />complaints. This may be either a procedure currently being implemented or one to <br />be implemented under this CDBG grant. Include a description of how the grantee <br />informs the public about the complaint procedures. (Use additional pages as <br />necessary.) <br />1. Any person or persons wishing to file a complaint of housing discrimination in the <br />County may do so by informing Robert L. Bridwell, Director, Sanford/Lee County <br />Planning and Development, Sanford City Hall, 225 E. Weatherspoon Street, PO <br />Box 3729, Sanford, NC 27331-3729, phone: (919) 775-8240, TDD: (800) 735-2962, <br />of the facts and circumstances of the alleged discriminatory act or practice, <br />2. Upon receiving a housing discrimination complaint, the County shall inform the <br />North Carolina Human Relations Commission (Commission) and the complainant <br />about the complaint within ten (10) calendar days of receipt for conciliation and <br />resolution. The County shall then assist the Commission and the complainant in <br />filing an official written housing discrimination complaint with the Commission, <br />pursuant to the State Fair Housing Act and Title VIII, <br />® 3. The County shall offer its assistance to the Commission in the investigation and <br />conciliation of all housing discrimination complaints, which are based upon events <br />occurring in Lee County, North Carolina. <br />4. The County shall publicize within Lee County, North Carolina that it is the local <br />agency to contact with housing discrimination complaints. <br />The County has developed and will disseminate the above Fair Housing Complaint <br />Procedure.
