Section 2. That Appendix A, Definitions, be amended to add or replace the following <br />definitions: <br />AGRIBUSINESS <br />A business that sells agricultural products that were produced on the property where they are <br />offered for sale. <br />ANIMATION <br />The movement, or the optical illusion of movement of any part of the sign structure, design or <br />pictorial segment including the movement of any illumination or the flashing, scintillating or <br />varying of light intensity. The automatic changing of all or any part of the facing of a sign <br />shall be considered to be animation. Also included in this definition are signs having "chasing <br />action" which is the action of a row of lights commonly used to create the appearance of <br />motion. <br />AWNING <br />An architectural projection that provides weather protection, identity and/or decoration and is <br />wholly supported by the building to which it is attached. An awning is comprised of a <br />lightweight, rigid or retractable skeleton structure over which an approved cover is attached. <br />(Source: North Carolina State Building Code, Vol. 1, § 202) <br />AWNING SIGN <br />A sign that is part of a fabric or other nonstructural awning. <br />BALLOON <br />A nonporous bag of material filled with heated or non -heated air or gas so as to rise or float in <br />the atmosphere. <br />BANNER <br />A sign made predominantly of lightweight and flexible material, such as cloth, paper, vinyl, <br />fabric, plastic, that does not qualify as an Awning Sign, a Canopy Sign, or a Flag. <br />BEACON <br />Any light with one or more beams directed into the atmosphere or directed at one or more <br />points not on the same zone lot as the light source; also, any light with one or more beams that <br />rotate or move. <br />BULLETIN BOARD <br />A sign erected by a nonprofit entity or a public body, which is erected upon the same property <br />as such institution. <br />
