B. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: November 5, 2007 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: 800 MHz Radio Equipment Grant <br />DEPARTMENT: Office of Emergency Management <br />CONTACT PERSON: Eric Griffin, Emergency Management Director <br />REQUEST: Accept Grant for 800 MHz Radio Equipment <br />SUMMARY: The North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety <br />have offered a grant of $20,596.00 for the specific purchase of <br />interoperable communications equipment compatible with the state <br />VIPER system. This grant would be equipment only and the grant <br />stipulates the County must sign the allocated funds over to the <br />state, for the state to purchase the radio equipment on behalf of the <br />county. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: No direct impact, however will increase assets by $20,596.00 <br />ATTACHMENT(S): 1. Grant award notice dated 10 October 2007 from Bryan Beatty, <br />Secretary of the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety <br />2. Grant Agreement to NC Division of Emergency Management <br />PUBLIC HEARING: N/A <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: On October 16, 2006 a similar grant of funding for radio equipment <br />was accepted by the Board in the amount of $36,049.34 and Lee <br />County received approximately 14 portable radios <br />RECOMMENDATION: Accept the grant award, authorize the County Manager to sign the <br />grant contract and authorize the emergency management director to <br />sign routine paperwork associated with the grant. <br />
