October 1, 2007 Action Item <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Traffic Light at Intersection of Wyeth Entrance on 15/501 <br />DEPARTMENT: Economic Development <br />CONTACT PERSON: Bob Heuts, EDC Director <br />REQUEST: Letter to NC DOT in reference to the placement of a stop light for <br />the entrance of Wyeth on 15/501 <br />SUMMARY: A traffic light study was completed and denied by NC DOT in 2003 <br />when Wyeth created a new entrance for their facility on 151501. <br />Since that time, Wyeth has added over a thousand jobs which are <br />creating more traffic issues. Only minor accidents have occurred at <br />the entrance to date, but it is felt it will only be a matter of time <br />before something more serious occurs. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: N/A <br />ATTACHMENT(S): September 19, 2007 letter from EDC Director Bob Heuts <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the Chairman to send a letter to the NC DOT asking that <br />another traffic light study be completed for the Wyeth entrance on <br />15/501. <br />
