0 DnoR 13 pr, F 7610 <br />Chairman Stafford requested a time for the Board to <br />review the design drawings, as well as a projected time frame <br />for construction to begin and to be completed. Mr. Ed <br />Fitchett stated that design drawings with elevations will be <br />ready for review by the end of June. County Manager Cowan <br />stated that construction should begin in April or May, 1992, <br />and the project should be completed within twenty-four months <br />from the beginning of construction. <br />Chairman Stafford recognized commissioner Matthews, who <br />presented the recommendations from the Buildings, Grounds, and <br />Utilities Committee on the preliminary plans for the new <br />Senior Center. Following a brief discussion, Commissioner <br />Matthews moved to adopt the preliminary plans for the Senior <br />Center as recommended by the Building, Grounds, and Utilities <br />Committee. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, and upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Mrs. Osa Palmer, Chairman of the Senior Citizens Board, <br />was recognized by the Chairman Stafford. Mrs. Palmer <br />requested, on behalf of her Board, that the Commissioners <br />consider naming the new senior citizens facility "The <br />Enrichment Center of Lee County". Commissioner Matthews moved <br />to formally name the new senior center "The Enrichment Center <br />of Lee County". Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, and <br />upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the resolution had been unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Chairman Stafford recognized Assistant Planner Leisa <br />Powell, who presented a petition submitted to the Planning <br />Board requesting the NC Department of Transportation to <br />maintain Gunter Lake Road. Mrs. Powell stated that the <br />Planning Board denied the request, requesting that the <br />Planning Department staff meet with residents of Gunter Lake <br />Road to inform them of the State's minimum requirements in <br />order for them to be considered for State maintenance. <br />Following a brief discussion, Commissioner Hall moved to <br />direct the Planning Department staff to meet with these <br />residents to inform them of the DOT's standards, affording the <br />residents the opportunity to comply with the DOT's <br />specifications prior to the Board of Commissioners' <br />consideration of this petition.
