Commissioner Hall moved to adopt <br />the Buildings, Grounds, and Utilities Committee's request to <br />relocate the Board of Elections' offices to the Lee County <br />Government Center and to authorize the change orders to <br />permit this action. Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion, <br />and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, <br />and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted <br />unanimously. <br />Commissioner Cox reported that the Buildings, Grounds, <br />and Utilities Committee also reviewed the housing capacity <br />for the Red Cross office, which is currently located at the <br />Lee County Government Center. Additional space will be <br />needed in the Social Services Department for additional <br />employees that will be required in order to comply with the <br />Alexander-Flaherty mandates and for their Adult Medicaid <br />Unit. It was recommended by the Committee that the City of <br />Sanford be contacted about the possibility of providing the <br />office space for the Red Cross in their Municipal Center. <br />Commissioner Hall then left the room. Commissioner Reives <br />moved that the City of Sanford be asked to house the Red <br />Cross office in the Sanford Municipal center. Commissioner <br />Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and <br />Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted <br />unanimously. <br />Commissioner Cox stated that the Buildings, Grounds, <br />and Utilities Committee had discussed disposal of the County <br />Office Building. It was the Committee's recommendation that <br />Chairman Stafford name a joint committee to be composed of <br />Commissioners and Board of Education members. This committee <br />could discuss proposals for disposition of the County Office <br />Building and other County and Board of Education facilities. <br />Mr. Joyce reported that two petitions for water line <br />extensions were reviewed by the Buildings, Grounds, and <br />Utilities Committee, which directed Administrative Services <br />to proceed with preliminary procedures involved in the <br />special assessment process. These requests are for <br />extensions on Carthage Street going north and on Minter <br />School Road. <br />Commissioner Hall rejoined the meeting. <br />6 <br />
