Commissioner Cox seconded <br />the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been unanimously adopted. <br />The Board then considered the Tax Department's request to write <br />off ambulance bills, a copy of which is attached to these minutes, <br />and upon this reference, made a part hereof. He reported that <br />$16,740.00 of the bills involve Medicare and Medicaid recipients. <br />The Credit Bureau charges forty percent if sale or service is made <br />within six months and fifty percent if sale or service is made after <br />six months. The cost of filing judgements begins at $35.00 or <br />higher. Following a brief discussion, the Board agreed that if said <br />bills are written off, the County could still pursue collection of <br />the bills. Commissioner Hail moved to authorize the Tax Department <br />to write off the ambulance bills. The <br />Board then observed a brief recess. <br />Following a brief recess, the Board considered a resolution from <br />the Department of Transportation for anticipated allocations in <br />secondary road construction. Chairman Stafford recommended some <br />changes in the resolution, which should be underlined, to read as <br />follows: <br />County of Lee <br />North Carolina <br />The Lee County Board of Commissioners met on June 3, 1991, in <br />regular session and heard the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation <br />anticipated a July, 1991, allocation of $164,613 in Secondary <br />Construction and $84,997 in Secondary Road Trust Funds for a total of <br />$249,610 for the forthcoming construction season and a public hearing <br />was held on June 3, 1991, in the Commissioners' Room of the Wilrik <br />Building in Sanford concerning the expenditures of said funds: <br />WHEREAS, it is proposed to retain $24,613 of Secondary Road <br />Construction Funds and $8,497 of Secondary Road Trust Funds for a <br />total of $33,110 for small projects that may come up during the year <br />such as road additions, property owner participation projects, <br />volunteer fire department drives, county-wide surveys, overdrafts, <br />etc. <br />5 <br />
