aon~ 13 857 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE Or NORTH CAROLINA <br />Thursday, June 27, 1991 <br />*~***~~*~*~:*;k~;K***:k*~K~k****:k:k*~~KW:A;K*:K**W:KY::k~:i:kW*~:;K**M*~:~:1 ***~~:~:K~~:~ <br />The adjourned meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the <br />J County of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 3:00 P.M. on <br />Thursday, June 28, 1991, in the Commissioners' Room on the second <br />floor of the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, <br />North Carolina, the same being the time, date, and place specified in <br />the motion of adjournment. Those present were: Commissioners Albert <br />L. Cox, Bobby R. Hall, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert <br />T. Reives, William C. Stafford, Jr., and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman <br />Stafford declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the <br />transaction of business. <br />Chairman William C. Stafford, Jr., presided, and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The Board first considered the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, Bridge Number 155 over the Deep River between Chatham <br />and Lee Counties was originally built across the Cape Fear River in <br />Lillington, and the span was moved to its present site in 1908; and <br />WHEREAS, Bridge Number 22 is scheduled to be built on Highway d2 <br />West over Pocket Creek near Sanford in February 1992; and <br />WHEREAS, a temporary bridge will be needed during the <br />construction of this new bridge replacement; and <br />WHEREAS, Bridge Number 155 could be moved once again to <br />accommodate a need for a temporary bridge over Pocket Creek, costing <br />less for the State to move as one piece rather than to unassemble and <br />reconstruct it; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Worth Pickard has requested from the North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation to locate Bridge Number 155 on his <br />property to be used by local traffic as a temporary bridge over <br />Pocket Creek while Bridge Number 22 is being constructed; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Worth Pickard would assume responsibility of <br />ownership and maintenance for Bridge Number 155 after Bridge Number <br />22 is completed, after which time Bridge Number 155 would no longer <br />be in use by the public; and <br />WHEREAS, the State would not incur the expense of demolishing a <br />temporary bridge over Pocket Creek; and <br />
