iLta 13 ,art 33:1 <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to adopt the following contractors <br />for inclusion on the County's list of eligible contractors for the <br />Beulah Brown Road Target Area Project: Morris Oxendine, Central <br />Builders; William Key, William Key Construction; Buddy Covington, <br />Handyman Service; Steve Stutts, Sandhills Construction; James Larry <br />Thomas, Powerhouse Enterprises; Patricia Oliver, Oliver's <br />Construction; and Bill Guy, Guy Home Repair. Commissioner Cox <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to contract legal services for the <br />project to Love and Wicker, P.A., as proposed. A copy of this <br />proposal is attached to these minutes, and upon this reference, made <br />a part hereof. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Reives recognized Ms. Leisa Powell of the Planning <br />Department, who met with Mr. Skip Green regarding building <br />inspections of the CDBG Beulah Brown Target Area Project. Ms. Powell <br />reported that Mr. Green provided specifications for the first four <br />houses to be renovated in the project area. Permits will have to be <br />obtained by the contractors, and inspections will be conducted by the <br />County Building Inspector. The County will be reimbursed by grant <br />funds for these inspections. Ms. Powell reported that all <br />departments involved with the project will have representatives meet <br />with Mr. Green to ensure that all phases of the project, such as <br />permits and inspections, are understood. Commissioner Reives <br />informed the Board that there are three additional houses in the <br />target area which may qualify to be included in the project; however, <br />the primary houses will be completed prior to these additional houses <br />being considered. <br />Commissioner Cox reported that the Parks and Recreation <br />Department is being considered for a grant to construct a "greenway <br />along Kiwanis Family Park, extending from Wicker Street to Carbonton <br />Road, where a parking area would also be installed. The Sanford <br />Kiwanis Club has committed to fund up to $30,000.00 toward the <br />project. He requested that the County Manager follow up on the <br />status of the grant and that he assist the Parks and Recreation <br />Department's efforts in obtaining this grant in any way possible.
