dal. t3'.;oa 82$ <br />MINUTES OF <br />THE BOARD <br />THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />J <br /> <br />Monday, August 5, 1991 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, <br />August 5, 1991, in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of the <br />County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North Carolina. <br />Those present were: Commissioners Albert L. Cox, Bobby R. Hall, <br />Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, William C. <br />Stafford, Jr., and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman Stafford declared a <br />quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman William C. Stafford, Jr., presided, and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Attorney K. R. Hoyle. <br />The Chairman recognized fourteen individuals who received <br />national recognition for their volunteer service in Lee County in a <br />recent publication entitled, "County Points of Light," which was <br />presented to President George Bush. Certificates of commendation <br />from the National Association of Counties were presented to the <br />following: Albert Ankrom, Betty Boerger, Philip Boerger, Eva Brown, <br />Carolyn Dalrymple, Howard McDonald, Osa Palmer, Annie Laurie <br />Pomeranz, Fletcher Rosser, Zenobia Sellars, Ila Warren, Wilma <br />Winstead, Emil Weber, and Allan White. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved that the Board of Commissioners <br />proceed to hold a public hearing on the assessment of the Carthage <br />Street water line extension. Commissioner Wicker seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman declared the vote has been unanimously adopted and <br />the public hearing open, The Chairman opened the floor to all <br />persons who wished to speak on the request. Mr. Bob Joyce, <br />Administrative Services Director, stated that the only response in <br />opposition to the assessment was from Ms. Aubrey Wilkie of 2209 <br />Carthage Street, who is satisfied with the use of her well. He <br />reported that Ms. Wilkie also did not sign the petition. There being <br />no one present to speak on the request, Commissioner Cox moved that <br />the public hearing be closed.
