The Board then considered authorization to advertise for bids for a computer upgrade and public safety software program. Assistant County Manager Beatrice Fields stated that the upgrade of the computer system, which will provide for an updated software program for the Sheriff's office, has already been allocated in the budget. Commissioner Cox moved that the County advertise for bids for a computer upgrade and public safety software program. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. The Board next considered a request to employ a consultant to study and analyze the organizational structure, staffing levels, procedures and work flows of the County maintenance operations at a cost of $2S00. Commissioner Cox reported that the Buildings, Grounds, and Utilities Committee recommended that David M. Griffith and Associates be contracted to conduct the study. The Board discussed the feasibility of hiring a consultant versus designating the County Manager to conduct this study. Commissioner Reives moved to adopt the Buildings, Grounds, and Utilities Committee's recommendation to employ David M. Griffith and Associates to conduct the study. Commissioner Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Matthews, Paschal, and Reives Nay: Cox, Hall, Stafford, and Wicker The Chairman ruled the motion had been denied by a three to four vote. The Board considered a contract to employ an acoustics consultant to perform a study on the Lee County Civic Center as recommended by the Buildings, Grounds, and Utilities Committee. Following a brief discussion, Commissioner Paschal moved to employ Stewart Acoustical Consultants to perform the study at a cost not to exceed $3,000. A copy of the contract is attached to these minutes, and upon this reference, made a part hereof.
