Cowan announced that Ms. Debra Holley <br />from the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners would not <br />be present to review the local government textbook program at this <br />meeting due to illness. <br />The Chairman recognized Dr. Marvin Joyner, who presented <br />recommendations for the acoustical problems at the Lee County Civic <br />Center from Stewart Acoustical Consultants and the Community Advisory <br />Committee. Dr. Joyner provided the following costs involved, <br />including the installation of a free-standing sign to advertise <br />upcoming events and a flagpole which was recommended by the advisory <br />committee, and revenue estimates: <br />Costs,. <br />Revenue <br />Curtains <br />40,000 <br />Remaining Contingency $13,070 <br />Ceiling Sound <br />Materials <br />10,000 <br />Liquidated Damages, 24,500, <br />Wall Sound <br />Total $37,570 <br />Materials <br />5,000 <br />Flagpole <br />3,500 <br />Sign <br />12,000 <br />Acoustics,,.,,,study...... 3 ,000 <br />Total <br />$73,500 <br />Following a discussion, Commissioner Wicker moved to appropriate <br />$36,000 from the contingency fund needed to install the acoustics, <br />the sign, and the flagpole. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, <br />and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews. Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />3 <br />
