Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: Matthews <br />vote. <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one <br />A vote was then conducted on the substitute motion, which was to <br />pursue the public's vote on the issue of merging city and county <br />governments in Lee County, and the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: Matthews <br />vote. <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a six to one <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to request that the State <br />representatives consider legislation that would allow the county some <br />jurisdiction in the annexation process in the event that a merger of <br />local governments does not materialize in Lee County. Commissioner <br />Reives seconded the motion. <br />Commissioner Hall moved to table the motion. Commissioner <br />Wicker seconded the motion. Following a brief discussion, <br />Commissioner Hall withdrew the motion, and Commissioner Wicker <br />withdrew his second to the motion. <br />A vote was then conducted on the original motion, and the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Matthews and Reives <br />Nay: Cox, Hall, Paschal, Stafford, and Wicker <br />vote. <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been denied by a two to five <br />2 <br />
