Mr. Bill Rudeseal of 7133 Lark Lane <br />stated that he presently rents his residence; however, he has <br />considered buying the home. He stated that if the property is <br />rezoned as commercial, he will not buy the home. Mr. Bill Parrish, <br />representing the operators of the golf course, opposed the request <br />due to the possible devaluation of surrounding properties. There <br />being no one else present to speak on the request, the next petition <br />was presented. <br />Mr. Barefoot presented drawings of the property for a petition <br />submitted by Lonnie Joe Simmons to rezone a total of approximately <br />5.52 acres of land located on the eastern side of Jefferson Davis <br />Highway Commercial District. A 2.21 acre portion of the property is <br />located at 2909 and 2913 Jefferson Davis Highway, and a 3.31 acre <br />portion of the property is located on the eastern side of Jefferson <br />Davis Highway beginning at a point approximately 300 feet south of <br />the intersection of Chris Cole Road and Jefferson Davis Highway. <br />Speaking in opposition of the request, Ms. Virginia White of <br />6513 Chris Cole Road stated that more commercial property in the area <br />would not be conducive to the surrounding residential property. <br />There being no one else present to speak on the request, the next <br />petition was presented. <br />Mr. Barefoot presented drawings of the property for a petition <br />submitted by Lonnie Joe Simmons to rezone 1.02 acres of land located <br />at 2813 Jefferson Davis Highway from Highway Commercial District to <br />Light Industrial Conditional Use District. The petitioner proposes <br />to locate commercial storage of propane gas above ground in <br />quantities for distribution. <br />Mr. Randy Turner of Knot Circle opposed the request for this <br />type business being located across the street from his residence. <br />Ms. Virginia White expressed her concerns about the danger of this <br />type business being located so close the residences. She stated that <br />residential property values in the area would be adversely affected. <br />Mr. Ed Enderle of 2904 Jefferson Davis Highway expressed concern <br />about the size of the tanks that would be stored on the property. <br />There being no one else present to speak on the request, the next <br />petition was presented. <br />Mr. Barefoot presented drawings of the property for a petition <br />submitted by Benny A. and Linda Sloan to rezone 19.16 acres of land <br />on the northern side of Longstreet Road beginning at a point <br />approximately 1100 feet west of the intersection of Longstreet Road <br />and Woodland Trails Road from Residential Agricultural and <br />Residential Mixed Districts to Residential Mixed Conditional Use <br />District.
