~m 14 97 <br />LNJ <br />MINUTE$vOr'THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />J <br />*****~:*=K*%k%:**H:~:**m~%:W***W.~*:K%;*~;**:K~K***~~:**M*%:~~:*%: ~:*M*:K*****:K*****:K*W:% <br />Monday, October 21, 1991 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, <br />October 21, 1991, in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of <br />the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North <br />Carolina. Those present were: Commissioners Albert L. Cox, Bobby R. <br />Hall, Bertha L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, <br />William C. Stafford, Jr., and Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman Stafford <br />declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of <br />business. <br />Chairman William C. Stafford, Jr., presided, and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by chairman Stafford. <br />Having been duly advertised, Commissioner Wicker moved that the <br />Board of Commissioners proceed to hold a public hearing. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows' <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and <br />the public hearing was open, at which time the Planning Board members <br />joined the Commissioners for the first six hearings. Mr. Leonard <br />Barefoot, Planning Director, presented drawings of the property for a <br />petition submitted by Ray Smith and Jim Moore for Quail Ridge Golf <br />Course, Inc. to rezone 5.21 acres of land located at the southwestern <br />corner of the intersection of Lark Lane and Jefferson Davis Highway <br />from Residential Restricted District to Highway Commercial District. <br />Mr. Earl Newsome of 926 Stoneybrook Drive stated that he as a <br />realtor represents the petitioners. He stated that an offer to <br />purchase the property in question has been made contingent upon the <br />property being rezoned. Plans are to develop a restaurant and a few <br />small shops on the property. <br />Mr. Bill Carter of 7609 Divot Drive, representing the Quail <br />Ridge Property Owners Association, opposed the proposed commercial <br />zoning request due to the close proximity to residential development <br />in Quail Ridge Subdivision.
