aoo~ 14-ifxE 109 <br />WHEREAS, the complexities of their individual problems and the <br />divergence of their activities may lead to a widening gap of <br />misunderstanding; and <br />WHEREAS, any gap of misunderstanding must be eliminated, and <br />each group must understand the other if our American way of life is <br />to endure; and <br />WHEREAS, Farm-City Week provides an unparalleled experience for <br />farm and city people to become better acquainted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we do hereby proclaim the period of November 22 <br />through November 28, 1991, to be Farm-City Week; and we do further <br />call upon all citizens of this County and City to participate to the <br />limit of their capabilities in the joint visits, seminars, pageants, <br />fairs, and civic and social events associated with a successful <br />Farm-City Week in the City of Sanford and Lee County. <br />Commissioner Hall moved to adopt the resolution. Commissioner <br />Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Mr. Hall then requested that the Board consider a revised <br />Memorandum of Agreement between the North Carolina Cooperative <br />Extension/North Carolina State University and Lee County, a copy of <br />which is attached to these minutes, and upon this reference, made a <br />part hereof. Following a brief discussion, Commissioner Matthews <br />moved to authorize the agreement. Commissioner Hall seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Stafford stated that due to the public's confusion and <br />lack of knowledge about the recently adopted law in regard to the <br />$100 penalty for failure to list vehicles and other personal <br />property, he asked the Finance Committee to review the matter. <br />Commissioner Wicker, chairman of the Finance Committee, reported that <br />the Committee recommended reducing the penalty to $25 during 1991 and <br />1992. After discussing the issue, Commissioner Hall moved to adopt <br />the Finance Committee's recommendation. Commissioner Reives seconded <br />the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />2 <br />
