FDA 14- Pvr 108 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />Monday, November 4, 1991 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />J of Lee, State of North Carolina convened at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, <br />November 4, 1991, in the Commissioners' Room on the second floor of <br />the County Office Building, 200 Wicker Street, Sanford, North <br />Carolina. Those present were: Commissioners Bobby R. Hall, Bertha <br />L. Matthews, Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, William C. <br />Stafford, Jr., and Gordon A. Wicker; absent, Commissioner Albert L. <br />Cox. Chairman Stafford declared a quorum present and the meeting <br />open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman William C. Stafford, Jr. presided, and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />The invocation was given by County Attorney K. R. Hoyle. <br />The Board reviewed the draft of the minutes of the October 21, <br />1991, meeting. Commissioner Wicker moved to adopt the minutes of the <br />meeting as the official minutes of said meeting and that they be <br />recorded. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Stafford recognized Mr. Worth Pickard, chairman of the <br />Lee County Board of Elections. Mr. Pickard introduced Mr. Shelby <br />Thomas of Elections Products, Inc., who presented and demonstrated an <br />optical voting machine. Ms. Kim Butts, supervisor of Elections, <br />stated that the machine will be utilized at the West Sanford #2 <br />Precinct as a demonstrator for the November 5th election. <br />The Chairman recognized Mr. John Hall, Director of the <br />Cooperative Extension Service, who outlined the upcoming activities <br />associated with Farm-City Week and presented the following <br />proclamation for the Board's consideration: <br />WHEREAS, the growth and development of the City of Sanford and <br />Lee County and the well-being of all its citizens are dependent upon <br />cooperation and exchange between the two essential environments of <br />our society: farmers and city people; and <br />1 <br />
