0 <br />eah~ 14 P~,s~ 164 <br />1 6) <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Committee reports were then presented to the Board. <br />Commissioner Cox, Chairman of the Buildings, Grounds, and Utilities <br />Committee presented the proposed plans for the front entrance design <br />of the Lee County Government Center. The Board discussed the plans <br />as drawn by the architect, Derrell Mullins, who projected a cost of <br />$43,054.00 to complete the project. The Board discussed cutting the <br />expense by using brick pavers in the front entrance and sidewalk area <br />only versus using brick pavers also for the entire sidewalk area. <br />Commissioner Cox noted that Commissioner Paschal secured a donation <br />of 5,000 brick pavers to subsidize the project. Commissioner Paschal <br />moved to authorize the County Manager to proceed with the project. <br />Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. He <br />asked Commissioner Paschal to work with the County Manager in <br />exploring the least expensive means of completing this project. <br />The Finance Committee report was reviewed. Applications <br />submitted by J. Glenn Edwards Elementary School and Greenwood School <br />for the 1991 Awards for the Parks and Recreation Matching Grants <br />Program were discussed by the Board. A discussion followed involving <br />policy guidelines concerning ownership of property for the awarding <br />of the funds. Commissioner Hall moved to grant the awards to the two <br />schools. Chairman Stafford seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hall and Matthews <br />Nay: Cox, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been denied by a two to five <br />vote. <br />The Chairman recognized County Attorney K. R. Hoyle, who stated <br />that the General Statute requires, upon the reorganization of the <br />Board, that the Board examine the bonds to insure that adequate <br />bonding of certain County officials is taking place. According to <br />Assistant County Manager Beatrice Fields, the following amounts meet <br />the minimum requirements, and some exceed the required amounts, <br />5 <br />
