Cox had been <br />elected Vice-Chairman. <br />Chairman Stafford commended County Staff and the Board of <br />Commissioners for the 15.64 percent available fund balance in the <br />amount of $3,396,393. <br />The Chairman recognized Mr. Worth Pickard, Chairman of the Board <br />of Elections, who introduced Mr. Shelby Thomas of Elections Products, <br />Inc. Mr. Thomas demonstrated a direct recording electronic voting <br />machine. Following Mr. Thomas' demonstration, the Board discussed <br />differences between this machine and the voting machine Mr. Thomas <br />demonstrated to the Commissioners at their November 4, 1991, meeting. <br />It was the general consensus of the Board for the Board of Elections <br />to forward a recommendation to the Finance Committee to review at its <br />next regular meeting. <br />The Board then observed a brief recess. Following the recess, <br />the Chairman recognized Mr. Leonard Barefoot, who presented a <br />rezoning request. He stated that the Planning Board unanimously <br />recommended that the Board of Commissioners approve the petition <br />submitted by G. Duke Harton to rezone 2.85 acres of land located at <br />1510 Post Office Road beginning at a point approximately 680 feet <br />east of the intersection of Post Office Road and Colon Road from <br />Residential Agricultural District to Highway Commercial Conditional <br />Use District to locate a welding shop.
