230
December 20, 1991
TO: LEE COU"TY COMMISSIONERS
FROM: CLEO D. BLUE
SUBJECT: REFUND OF OVERPAID TAXES
DEAR COMMISSIONERS:
May 29, 1987 I sold Jesse Bernard Blue Jr. a 1966 RITZ Mobile
Home for $ 2000.00. The Mobile Home was a two bedroom 12'X50'
The vehicle ID 4 is 50668606 and the Title 4 is 435212965C.
Attached you will find copies of supporting documents from the
Lee County Tax Office, Southern National Bank, and the Dept. of
Motor Vehicle that verify my claim. I am the owner and operator
of BLUE'S MHP. The Mobile Home was and still is located on one
of my lots. Because it was underpinned with blocks, it was listed
as real property.
I stopped listing the Mobile Home for tax purposes in 1987 after
I sold it. Somehow, the Lee County Tax Office has continued over
the years to list the Mobile Home and to list it at a tax value
of $ 11,500.00. I found out about the error in the fall of 1991.
I was told by Mrs. Norma Bullard that the 1991 taxes would be
corrected since I had not already paid my property taxes. She
said that I would have to show proof that I had sold the Mobile
:tome, the date that I sold it, and request a refund for over-
payment of taxes for 1938, 1989, and 1990. And that it would
take approximately one to two months to get a refund check.
At this time I have not been told how much money I'm due, but
I do know I'm due some money for three years. Please review
and if you have any questions, I can be reached by phone at
776-0895 at home or 775-2201 at work. My physical address is
4810 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Sanford, N. C. 27330. Thank you
for your anticipated support.
Yours Truly,
L,IA
CLEO D. BLUE
29
