Matthews joined the Board meeting, <br />following which Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker delivered the <br />invocation. <br />The Board reviewed the drafts of the minutes of the adjourned <br />sessions held on February 11 and February 17, 1992, and of the <br />regular session held on February 17, 1992. Commissioner Hall moved <br />to adopt the minutes as the official records of said meetings. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Chairman Stafford recognized Ms. Margaret Johnson of the <br />Department of Social Services, who presented a progress report on the <br />JOBS Program. Following a lengthy discussion, the commissioners <br />directed the Department of Social Services to submit to them a <br />monthly report concerning the number of private industry contacts <br />made to secure employment for JOBS participants. <br />The Board then discussed moving forward with preliminary plans <br />for a future high technology landfill. The Board's current options <br />include a proposal submitted by Cherokee-Sanford Group, Inc. and the <br />possibility of Lee County owning and operating its own landfill <br />facility. Commissioner Paschal moved to solicit landfill proposals <br />until October 1, 1992. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion. After <br />a discussion, commissioner Paschal amended his motion, upon which <br />Commissioner Hall agreed, to accept proposals through June 30, 1992. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
