roo~ 11 5779
recycle. An explanation of what waste warrants a $14.00 tipping fee
should also be publicized.
3. LANDFILL OPERATION: No one should be turned away from
the landfill or convenient centers with legal trash due to improper
bagging or hauling practices. This invites illegal dumping to occur
on private property. Since we currently pay an additional tax on
tires at the time of purchase to cover recycling, we feel that the
charge at the landfill should be dropped.
4. EMPLOYEE ATTITUDE: All citizens should be treated with
respect and courtesy and not made to feel like a criminal at the
landfill and convenient centers. Several citizens have experienced
harrassment from employees while trying to properly dispose of their
trash.
5. LITTER LAWS: We support the current laws regarding
littering. Bobby Johnson, Director of
Public Works and John Payne, Recycling Coordinator discussed various
things pertaining to the landfill and convenient centers.
Chairman Stafford recommended to the Board a committee be
formed to investigate the matters listed above and bring
back specific recommendations to the Board. Chairman
Stafford appointed the following to work on the committee:
Commission Paschal, Bobby Johnson, John Payne, Sheriff
Bryant, Ernest Dalrymple, David Dycus, and Commissioner
Stafford.
At this point, Chairman Stafford asked if there was any other
business to be discussed. Commissioner Wicker made a motion for the
7
