A mandatory $10,000 life insurance
benefit is also included in the plan. This is the best solution we can
find to keep rates as low as possible and to help hold down the
escalating cost of hospitalization for the future.
The premium for individual coverage under this plan would be $ 143
which is a $ 23 increase over what is currently being funded by the Board
of Commissioners; however, we really hope that the Commissioners will
decide to continue to fund the total employee cost for individual
coverage since our employees have always considered this to be one of our
most desirable fringe benefits.
I might also mention that State law now mandates coverage for pap
smears and mammograms for all plans except those that are self insured.
While it is not mandatory that we add this coverage, I feel that our
employees have heard the recent press coverage and expect us to add these
items. There would be an increase of approximately 1% in cost but I
think we could probably absorb this additional cost of about $ 5,000
within the insurance fund.
If I can be of further assistance or if you have any questions
please let me know.
78
200 Wicker Street, P.
