Commissioner
Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as
follows:
Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
Mr. Barefoot stated the Planning Board unanimously recommends
that the Board of Commissioners deny the petition by A & W Investment
Group to rezone 81.47 acres of land located on the northern side of
Peach Orchard Road beginning at a point approximately 2800 feet east
of the intersection of Rocky Fork Church Road and Peach Orchard Road
from Residential Agricultural District to Residential Mixed District.
The Planning Board in its deliberation cited its concerns that the
lots would be used primarily for single-wide manufactured homes,
particularly in consideration of the availability of other
manufactured home lots in the area. Mr. Barefoot stated that since
the Planning Boards recommendation to deny the petition, A & W
Investment Group had requested their petition be withdrawn.
Commissioner Paschal moved to allow A & W's request to withdraw the
application. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a
vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously and
the application withdrawn.
The Board then considered a resolution urging action by the
United States House of Representatives and Senate to support
legislation to establish a local government postal rate or the
utilization of the "not-for-profit" rate for local governments for
the distributions of mandated services at the local level in an
effort to benefit the taxpayers of the United States at the local
level. After some discussion Commissioner Hall moved to table the
motion. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote,
the results were as follows:
Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
6
