rno~ 14 650
about possible ground and surface water contamination by leaking
fluids from automobiles stored on the property. Commissioner Hall
moved to adopt the Planning Board's recommendation to deny the
request. Commissioner Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a vote,
the results were as follows:
Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
Mr. Barefoot stated that the Planning Board unanimously
recommended that the Board of Commissioners approve Jimmy Blackmun's
request to rezone 8.85 acres of land located at 2905 Jefferson Davis
Highway from Residential Agricultural District to Highway Commercial
Conditional Use District for the location of an automobile sales
business. The Planning Board recommends that, since Mr. Blackmun
indicated during the public hearing he will be using only the
southernmost two acres of the property for his business, only two
acres of the property as designated on a map approved by the Lee
County Planning Department, be rezoned (the map approved by the
Planning Department shows the southernmost 210 feet fronting along
Jefferson Davis Highway). The Planning Board in its deliberation
cited that the property adjoins other property which is zoned Highway
Commercial District. Commissioner Paschal moved to adopt the
request. Commissioner Matthews seconded the motion, and upon a vote,
the results were as follows:
Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker
Nay: None
Mr. Barefoot stated that the Planning Board recommended that the
Board of Commissioners approve Lex Hunter's amended petition to
rezone approximately 9.0 acres of land located at 216 Poplar Springs
Church Road from Residential Agricultural District to Residential
Mixed Conditional Use District for the location of a six lot
manufactured home park. The property currently contains four mobile
homes. The Planning Board in its deliberation cited that there are
currently four manufactured homes on the property and the two
additional manufactured homes would not cause disruptive noise,
compromise the residential integrity of the area, or pose a potential
well contamination hazard. After some discussion Commissioner
Paschal made a motion to deny the Planning Boards recommendation.
Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results
were as follows:
Aye: Paschal, Reives, Stafford, and Wicker
