MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING <br />OF <br />THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR <br />THE COUNTY OF LEE, STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />J <br />May 4, 1992 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee, State of North Carolina, convened at 9:30 A. M. on Monday, <br />May 4, 1992, in the Commissioners Room, Lee County Government Center, <br />106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, North Carolina. Those present were: <br />Commissioners Albert L. Cox, Bobby R. Hall, Bertha L. Matthews, <br />Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. Reives, William C. Stafford, Jr., and <br />Gordon A. Wicker. Chairman Stafford declared a quorum present and <br />the meeting open for the transaction of business. <br />Chairman William C. Stafford, Jr., presided, and the following <br />business was transacted: <br />Commissioner Stafford introduced County Attorney, K. R. Hoyle, <br />who delivered the invocation. <br />The Board reviewed the draft of the minutes of the April 20, <br />1992, meeting. After noting a correction, commissioner Matthews <br />moved to adopt the minutes as the official record of said meeting as <br />corrected. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Mr. William K. Cowan, County Manager, requested that Myra P. <br />Johnson had resigned as Clerk to the Board and that the Board needed <br />to appoint someone to serve in that capacity. Mr. Cowan reported <br />that he had employed Gaynell M. Beal to be his Administrative <br />Assistant and recommended that she be considered for the appointment. <br />Commissioner Paschal nominated Gaynell M. Beal for appointment as the <br />Clerk to the Board of Commissioners to serve at the pleasure of the <br />Board as provided in General Statute 153A-111. Commissioner Matthews <br />seconded the nomination. There were no further nominations and upon <br />a vote the results were as follows: <br />1 <br />
