Barefoot, Planning Director <br />May 26, 1992 <br />Items for June 1, 1992 Board of Commissioners Meeting <br />Agenda <br />Please place the following items on the June 1, 1992 Board of <br />Commissioners meeting agenda: <br />1. Rezoning Request - Willie Godfrey <br />The Planning Board unanimously recommends approval of a <br />portion of Willie Godfrey's petition to rezone property located at <br />the intersection of Nicholson and Edwards Roads from Residential <br />Agricultural District to Highway Commercial District. The <br />Planning Board, upon testimony by Mr. Godfrey that he plans to <br />initially use only the southwestern corner of the property, <br />recommends rezoning this approximately 2.91 acre portion of the <br />property. The board tabled consideration of the remaining <br />portion of the property. The Planning Board in its deliberation <br />cited the location of the property at the intersection of two well <br />traveled roads, the lack of commercially zoned property in a <br />heavily populated area, and the support for the rezoning shown by <br />the area residents during the public hearing. <br />2. Rezoning Request - W. H. Cooper <br />The Planning Board unanimously recommends approval of W. H. <br />Cooper's petition to rezone 8.85 acres of land located at 2905 <br />Jefferson Davis Highway from Residential Agricultural District to <br />Highway Commercial District. The Planning Board in its <br />deliberation cited that the property is adjoining other property <br />currently zoned Highway Commercial District, the property's access <br />onto Jefferson Davis Highway, and the fact that existing <br />commercial development on adjoining properties makes the property <br />unappealing for residential or agricultural development. <br />4"" <br />
