become active in the effort to secure passage of <br />House Bill 916. <br />Commissioner Reives seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />Vice Chairman Cox ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request from Mr. Tom Poe of 5715 <br />Carbonton Road, designating Sunday, June 14, 1992, as drug prevention <br />Sunday in Lee County. After some discussion Commissioner Hall made a <br />motion to adopt the following resolution and send to all area Lee <br />County churches: <br />WHEREAS, the abuse of drugs and alcohol continue to be a <br />major problem in the Lee County area, and <br />WHEREAS, it is felt that the churches and their leaders <br />constitute a major influence in Lee County, and <br />WHEREAS, a time of special focus on the problem in church <br />services could help to keep our young people away from drugs, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Sunday, June 14, 1992, <br />shall be designated as drug prevention Sunday, and all churches and <br />ministers in the Lee County area will be asked to focus their message <br />on that Sunday upon the problem of drug abuse. <br />Commissioner Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the <br />results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />Vice Chairman Cox ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, <br />Commissioner Hall moved to adjourn the meeting.
