At 9:30 A.M. the Chairman of the Board of commissioners announced that the Board would hear anyone who wished to be heard on the questions of the validity of the refunding bond order and the advisability of issuing the refunding bonds. At the direction of the Chairman, the Clerk of the Board of Commissioners read the refunding bond order and the published notice of hearing. After the Board had heard all persons who requested to be heard in connection with the foregoing questions, commissioner Wicker moved that the public hearing be closed. The motion was seconded by commissioner Cox and was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Hall moved that the Board of Commissioners of the County of Lee adopt without change or amendment and direct the Clerk of the Board of Commissioners to publish as prescribed by The Local Government Bond Act the bond order entitled, "BOND ORDER AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $9,000,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION REFUNDING BONDS OF THE COUNTY OF LEE," introduced at the meeting of the Board of Commissioners held on May 18, 1992. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cox and was adopted by the following vote: Aye: Cox, Hall, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker Absent: Matthews Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. The Board considered a petition requesting a public hearing on the creation of an airport authority by Laura Young of Deep River Road. After some discussion Chairman Stafford informed Ms. Young a public hearing will be held at a later date. No date/time has been set. Chairman Stafford recognized Mr. Leonard Barefoot, Director of Planning, who presented several recommendations from the Planning Board. He stated the Planning Board unanimously recommended that the Board of Commissioners approve a portion of Willie Godfrey's petition to rezone property located at the intersection of Nicholson and Edwards Roads from Residential Agricultural District to Highway Commercial District. Commissioner Cox moved to adopt the Planning Board's recommendation. Commissioner Hall seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Cox, Hall, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
