Hines, Jr., Health Director <br />SUBJECT: Rural Obstetrical Care Incentive Grant <br />DATE: June 10, 1992 <br />Attached is a grant proposal for a Rural Obstetrical Care <br />Incentive Grant from the State Division of Maternal and Child <br />Health, notice of grant award and county budget amendment. As the <br />grant proposal indicates, this money is provided to pay for medical <br />backup of a Physician Extender working with the Health Department. <br />During a called meeting of the Lee County Board of Health on June <br />9, 1992, this proposal was approved and the budget amendment <br />recommended for approval by the Board of County Commissioners. <br />These funds must be obligated by June 30, 1992, if Lee County is <br />to receive them and as indicated in the letter from Mr. Jess <br />Berman, the State budget forms and amended Consolidated Contract <br />must be returned to the State by June 15, 1992 in order for them <br />to have time for processing. <br />The Board of Health also recommended that a Physician Extender <br />position be included in the Health Department's 1992-93 budget that <br />would be funded with Maternal Health medicaid receipts, and State <br />grant money from the Division of Maternal and Child Health. <br />ECH/bs <br />Attachment <br />
