005 <br />11 <br />• <br />Mayor Olive <br />January 31, 2011 <br />Page 2 <br />The City of Sanford initially participated in the Emergency Phase of the NFIP on June 26, 1978, and <br />was converted to the Regular Phase of the NFIP beginning on September 6, 1989, which brought the <br />full range of NFIP benefits to the citizens of the City. Our records indicate that there are currently 47 <br />flood insurance policies in force within the City of Sanford for coverage in the amount of $10,860,100. <br />Five (5) claims, totally $43,449.25, have been filed since the City entered the NFIP. <br />The purpose of this letter is to identify any findings of deficiencies in, or violations of, the City's <br />floodplain management program and to recommend corrective actions and establish the time <br />requirements needed to remedy them. <br />Field Observations <br />During the reconnaissance of the floodplain areas of the City and subsequent investigation using spatial <br />data, NCEM staff found the following buildings and /or accessory structures either located within the <br />Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA) and /or Floodway as shown on the currently effective Flood <br />Insurance Rate Map (FIRM), or in such close proximity to require further research: <br />• 3021 Foggy Mountain Loop — Parcel data indicates a garage built in 2008 <br />• 1309 Fernridge Road — Dwelling built in 1992 and a shed in 2006 <br />• 901 Wilkins Drive — Falls Creek Apartments — parcel data does not include year built for the <br />structures -2 structures located in the SFHA <br />• 1909 Beachwod Drive — Parcel data indicates dwelling built in 2003 and a shed in 2006 <br />• 1610 Webb Street - Parcel data indicates that a utility shed was constructed in 2008. <br />• 413 Henry Circle — Devroe Subdivision — dwelling built 2000 <br />• 414 Henry Circle — Devroe Subdivision — dwelling built 1999, garage 2003 <br />• 3305 Seth Drive — Devroe Subdivision — dwelling built 2004 <br />• 3313 Seth Drive <br />— Devroe Subdivision — dwelling built 2004 <br />• 500 Wade Drive <br />— Devroe Subdivision <br />— dwelling built 2004 <br />• 501 Wade Drive <br />— Devroe Subdivision— <br />dwelling built 2004 <br />• 504 Wade Drive <br />— Devroe Subdivision — <br />dwelling built 2003 <br />• 505 Wade Drive <br />— Devroe Subdivision — <br />dwelling built 2004 <br />U <br />To confirm that building in the SFHA, including accessory structures, were built in compliance with <br />the FIRM in effect at the time they were permitted and your own Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance, <br />we request you submit any and all permitting documentation on file for the above properties.
