Commissioner' Reives asked <br />that signs be posted near the proposed site advising residents in the communi'i future project. <br />The Board considered a Benefits Broker Firm for county insurance 'purpos the upcoming <br />year. Human Resource Director Joyce McGehee stated the County felt it was time to solicit proposals <br />for brokerage services related to the employee insurance and medical benefits productsttr' Current <br />Broker Mark III has represented Lee County for the last five year'sltin the areas of medf cel, life and <br />voluntary products such as cancer, vision, disability, and accident policies. Eleven proposals were <br />received with seven being interviewed by a committee of five staff members. Each business was given <br />the opportunity to make a presentation of their services and expefience;l Two companies were asked to <br />return and give a second presentation on their companies. ' McGehee stated the committee <br />recommends that Mark tit Brokerage be retained as the benefit broker for Lee County Government for <br />the upcoming year. Mark III has stated they will not ask for an incre'a'%l n`their compensation for the <br />next five years. After <br />discussion, C'o missiioner Oldham moved to approve a revised policy with the following additions to the <br />policy: tljh <br />- County Commissioners who are currently serving elected terms are exempt <br />from the policy. Once their elected t erm expires, the exemption expires <br />as well, unless stated otherwise by statute. <br />- Before a citizen is appointed to the Board or Commission, the County Clerk <br />will check with the Tax Administrator to make sure all ad valorem taxes have <br />• been paid to the County.
