600 PAr~ 302 5 <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered the following Resolution/Proclamation <br />proclaiming September 22, 1992, as Dennis A. Wicker Day in Lee <br />County: <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee <br />desire to recognize the service rendered by Dennis Alvin Wicker as <br />a citizen and as a Representative in the General Assembly; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chairman is hereby <br />authorized to issue a proclamation designating Tuesday, September 22, <br />1992, as Dennis A. Wicker Day in Lee County, North Carolina. <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, Dennis Alvin Wicker was born in Lee County on the 14th <br />day of June, 1952, the son of the late J. Shelton Wicker and Clarice <br />Burns Wicker; and <br />WHEREAS, he comes from a family which has long been prominent <br />and active in governmental, religious, cultural, and business <br />activities in Lee County; and <br />WHEREAS, he was educated in the public schools of Lee County and <br />graduated from high school in 1970; and <br />WHEREAS, he graduated from the University of North Carolina at <br />Chapel Hill with a B.A. Degree in 1974 and from Wake Forest <br />University with a J.D. Degree in 1978; and <br />WHEREAS, following his admission to the Bar, he returned to <br />Sanford and in keeping with his family tradition entered into all <br />facets of community life; and <br />WHEREAS, he has earned a reputation as a skillful and highly <br />competent attorney and is a partner in the prestigious firm of Love <br />and Wicker, P.A.; and <br />5 <br />
