boos 14 Pass 889 2 <br />The Board considered a request by the Sheriff's Department to <br />increase the part-time hourly rate of pay for temporary employees <br />with the department. Sheriff Billy Bryant and Rev. J. L. Morgan, <br />Pastor of First Calvery Baptist Church, spoke to the Board about the <br />growing number of crimes in the County. They want the citizens of <br />the County to feel safe in their own homes. Both recommended pay <br />increases for the department. After some discussion commissioner <br />Matthews moved to approve the following pay increases for the <br />Sheriff's Department: <br />Part-time <br />Deputy <br />$6.88 <br />per <br />hour <br />Part-time <br />Dispatcher <br />6.81 <br />per <br />hour <br />Part-time <br />Jailer <br />6.51 <br />per <br />hour <br />In the 1993/94 Budget the regular hourly rate for Step 1 of each <br />respective classification would be incorporated. Commissioner Hall <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a contract agreement between the Triangle J <br />Council of Governments and Lee County for the provision of state <br />funds in the amount of $3,498 to be used for outreach services by Lee <br />Senior Services. The state funds provided for outreach are matched <br />by $389 of local funds for a total budget of $3,887.00. Pam Adams, <br />Director of Senior Services answered questions of the Board. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the contract. Commissioner <br />Paschal seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as <br />follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered Tax Releases and Refunds for July, 1992, as <br />set out in the Tax Release Reports attached to these minutes and by <br />this reference made a part hereof. Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax <br />Administrator answered questions of the Board. After some discussion <br />Commissioner Reives moved to approve the Tax Releases and Refunds for <br />July, 1992. Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />2 <br />
