rf;'$ 6 <br />Mr. Tom Oxholm, a representative of Wake Stone Corp. and Mr. <br />John Bratten, President of Wake Stone Corp. spoke in favor of the <br />rezoning request. They explained the current operating procedures <br />and their intent on expanding in the area and the rezoning request. <br />They presented to the Boards airial views of their Wake County and <br />Knightdale plants and explained operating procedures. Mr. Oxholm and <br />Mr. Bratten answered questions of both Boards. <br />Individuals speaking in opposition to the request were Ms. <br />Sharon Womble, Mr. Dennis Pake of 9401 Deep River Road, Clarence <br />Lewis of 201 West Forest Oak Drive and Mr. John Davenport <br />(representing his grandfather Fred Grey). The main concern expressed <br />was concern as to what the plant would be doing when rezoned to heavy <br />industry, water problems in wells, heavy blasting, who would have <br />control on what goes on in the stone quarry and the future intent of <br />Wake Stone Corporation. <br />Commissioner Matthews made a motion to close the public hearing. <br />Commissioner Cox seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to adjourn the meeting.
