IT Director Kyle <br />Edwards discussed with the Board an ongoing, prole ifor equipment and labor required that will allow <br />Lee County, in conjunction with Central Carolina Commtnity College (CCCC), to be in a position to <br />• establish a Public, Education, Government (PEG) Channehtm association with the Local Franchise <br />Agreement and Charter Communication. Correspondence was also provided to Board members from <br />Charter Communications Director of Government Relations that leads everyone to believe they intend <br />to provide the channel through the equipment and services the county seeks to purchase. A letter from <br />the Lee County Attorney's been forwarded to Charter asking for written specific intent on <br />Charter's behalf to provide Lee County with its own individual PEG Channel. Mr. Edwards further <br />stated that in order to ,ehsu're the receipt of revenues tied to the PEG Channel the County would like to <br />move forward with the approivalt!ofi this. 1pro te cost so the next steps can be taken as soon as the <br />intent letter is received from�Charter. With the initiation of the PEG Channel through this project Lee <br />County will acquire a channel and'ithe, community college will also acquire a channel. Lee County will <br />nni <br />then be able to televise 8 -hours of content on their PEG Channel and CCCC will as well. It was further <br />stated thatila PEG1budget has been established and $94,300 has been appropriated for this project. <br />The equipment and labor costs associated with this piece of the project are $88,536.25. The remaining <br />monjesijin the PEG budget are for design consultation fees and network transmission costs. The <br />project was sent out tolE two separate times to multiple entities with only one from the same company <br />respondi gilo bid each time. Dr. Bud Marchant, President of Central Carolina Community College <br />stated he hadilbeenitin contact with Charter's Regional Manager and they are cooperating with the <br />college on this project. He further stated students at the college that will be assisting with this program <br />are very excited l and eager for the project to begin.
