KIOK 24 ,.133 • Approval for the Sheriff's Department to apply for a Law Enforcement Grant to the U.S. Department of Justice COPS for two deputy sheriff positions that will expire in the 2011 -12 budget cycle, • Budget Amendment # 05/23/11/16 (copy attached), • Fireworks permit for Central Carolina Community College's 50' anniversary celebration scheduled for July 23, 2011, • Resolution designating applicant's agent for FEMA disaster relief from the April 16' tornado (copy attached), • Amended By -Laws for the Library Board (copy attached), • Agreement between Lee County and Systel Business Equipment for copy and printer equipment (copy attached), and • Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Grant Annual Plan (copy attached) Upon a vote, the results were as follows: Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Paschal, Reives, Shook, and Womack Nay: None The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. At this time Commissioners conducted a joint public hearing with members of the Lee County Planning Board. Mr. Marshall Downey, Assistant Director of Planning and Development stated that the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management recently conducted a Community Assistance Visit for the City of Sanford as part of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The purpose of the visit was to ensure that local officials have appropriate rules and procedures in place to ensure compliance with the NFIP. Several recommended changes to Article 13 of the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) came as a result of the meeting. Mr. Downey discussed recommended changes per sections of the UDO and answered questions from the Board. Chairman Shook opened the public hearing that had been advertised for this date and time. No one present spoke for or against the recommended changes to the Unified Development Ordinance. Chairman Shook closed the public hearing. Planning staff retired to the Wicker Conference Room for further deliberation. A recommendation will be made to the Commissioners, from the Planning Board, at the June 6' meeting. Pursuant to N.C. General Statute 153A -52.1, Chairman Shook opened the floor for Public Comments. The following signed up to speak and were allowed 3 minutes for comments: 1.
