KIOK 24 ,.133 <br />• Approval for the Sheriff's Department to apply for a Law Enforcement Grant to <br />the U.S. Department of Justice COPS for two deputy sheriff positions that will <br />expire in the 2011 -12 budget cycle, <br />• Budget Amendment # 05/23/11/16 (copy attached), <br />• Fireworks permit for Central Carolina Community College's 50' anniversary <br />celebration scheduled for July 23, 2011, <br />• Resolution designating applicant's agent for FEMA disaster relief from the April <br />16' tornado (copy attached), <br />• Amended By -Laws for the Library Board (copy attached), <br />• Agreement between Lee County and Systel Business Equipment for copy and <br />printer equipment (copy attached), and <br />• Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Grant Annual Plan (copy attached) <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hayes, Oldham, Parks, Paschal, Reives, Shook, and Womack <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />At this time Commissioners conducted a joint public hearing with members of the Lee County <br />Planning Board. Mr. Marshall Downey, Assistant Director of Planning and Development stated that the <br />North Carolina Division of Emergency Management recently conducted a Community Assistance Visit <br />for the City of Sanford as part of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The purpose of the visit <br />was to ensure that local officials have appropriate rules and procedures in place to ensure compliance <br />with the NFIP. Several recommended changes to Article 13 of the Unified Development Ordinance <br />(UDO) came as a result of the meeting. Mr. Downey discussed recommended changes per sections of <br />the UDO and answered questions from the Board. <br />Chairman Shook opened the public hearing that had been advertised for this date and time. <br />No one present spoke for or against the recommended changes to the Unified Development <br />Ordinance. <br />Chairman Shook closed the public hearing. <br />Planning staff retired to the Wicker Conference Room for further deliberation. A <br />recommendation will be made to the Commissioners, from the Planning Board, at the June 6' meeting. <br />Pursuant to N.C. General Statute 153A -52.1, Chairman Shook opened the floor for Public <br />Comments. The following signed up to speak and were allowed 3 minutes for comments: <br />1.
