hoo 24 :158 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />© 0[04© 000060 © O <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />RESOLUTION <br />SETTING A LIMIT ON THE SPECIAL TAX RATE THAT MAY BE LEVIED UPON THE <br />PROPOSED CAPE FEAR SERVICE DISTRICT, SHOULD IT BE ESTABLISHED <br />WHEREAS, the Lee County Board of Commissioners, at its April 18, 2011 regular <br />meeting, adopted a Resolution making findings concerning the establishment of two fire, <br />ambulance and rescue service districts within the existing Cape Fear Rural Fire Protection <br />(RFP) District and directing staff to take all actions that would allow this Board to make a final <br />legal decision concerning whether to establish the same, and, <br />WHEREAS, when this Board created the Cape Fear RFP District, it limited the special <br />tax rate in the District to 15 cents per $100 valuation, and; <br />WHEREAS, State law also allows the Board to establish the same limit on the special <br />tax rate to be levied in the proposed service districts. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to and in compliance with North <br />Carolina General Statute 153A- 309.2, the Lee County Board of Commissioners does hereby <br />declare that property taxes within the proposed Cape Fear Service District may not be levied in <br />excess of a rate of fifteen cents (15 cents) on each one hundred dollars ($ 100.00) of property <br />subject to taxation, should the Cape Fear Service District be established. <br />Adopted this 23rd day of May 2011. <br />A.
