Mr. <br />John Crumpton, Finance Director answered questions of the Board. <br />After some discussion Commissioner Paschal moved to accept the change <br />orders for Park Avenue Park. Commissioner Matthews seconded the <br />motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />County Attorney, K.R. Hoyle discussed with the Board a special <br />separation allocation for law enforcement personnel. After some <br />discussion Commissioner Cox moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution. <br />WHEREAS, General Statute 143-166.42 provides for special <br />separation allowances for local law enforcement officers; and <br />WHEREAS, the statute makes the governing body for each unit <br />of local government responsible for making determinations of <br />eligibility for their local officers; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that payments to a retired <br />law enforcement officer of the Lee County Sheriff's Department under <br />the special separation allowance for local law enforcement officers <br />shall cease at the death of the individual or upon the last day of <br />the month in which he attains 62 years of age or upon the first day <br />of re-employment by a local unit of government who participates in <br />the Local Government Employees Retirement System of North Carolina <br />under any circumstances which would require said employee to <br />participate in said retirement system. <br />Commissioner Reives seconded the motion and upon a vote the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Cox moved to enter into <br />discuss a personnel matter.
