boos 14 Pr„F 939 2 <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Board considered a proclamation declaring week of November <br />20 - 26, 1992, as Joint Farm City Week. Dr. Jim Foster, Chairman of <br />Farm City Week and Mr. John Hall, County Extension Director appeared <br />before the Board and went over various functions to be held during <br />the week. Commissioner Matthews moved to approve the following <br />proclamation: <br />STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br />COUNTY OF LEE <br />CITY OF SANFORD <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, the growth and development of the City of Sanford and <br />Lee County and the well-being of all its citizens are dependent upon <br />cooperation and exchange between the two essential environments of <br />our society: farmers and city people; and <br />WHEREAS, the complexities of their individual problems and the <br />divergence of their activities may lead to a widening gap of <br />misunderstanding; and <br />WHEREAS, any gap of misunderstanding must be eliminated, and <br />each group must understand the other if our American way of life is <br />to endure; and <br />WHEREAS, Farm-City Week provides an unparalleled experience for <br />farm and city people to become better acquainted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we do hereby proclaim the period of November 20 <br />through November 26, 1992, to be Farm-City Week; and we do further <br />call upon all citizens of this County and City to participate to the <br />limit of their capabilities in the joint visits, seminars, pageants, <br />fairs, and civic and social events associated with a successful <br />Farm-City Week in the City of Sanford and Lee County. <br />Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Cox, Hall, Matthews, Paschal, Reives, Stafford and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered a request from Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax <br />Administrator to advertise delinquent taxes in out-of-state news- <br />papers. Mr. Crissman was asked to have the land re-checked for <br />2 <br />
