9
STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA )
AGREEMENT
COUNTY. OF LEE )
THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 16th day of
November 1992, by and between the COUNTY OF LEE, a body both
politic and corporate, hereinafter referred to as "COUNTY", and
AMI-SUB OF NORTH CAROLINA, INC., a corporation organized and existing
under the laws of the State of North Carolina with an office and
place of business in Sanford, Lee County, North Carolina, hereinafter
called "HOSPITAL".
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, Hospital operates the Central Carolina Hospital in
Sanford, Lee County; and
WHEREAS, the County operates an ambulance service in Lee County
and desires to make its services available to the Hospital and the
patients treated there; and
WHEREAS, the Hospital is supportive of having Lee County assume
the role and responsibility of transporting all patients at Central
Carolina Hospital needing ambulance services; and
NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the premises and of the
mutual promises herein contained, the parties have agreed as follows:
1. Lee County Ambulance Service will serve as the contact
point for all transports at Central Carolina Hospital, and that
includes Medicare, Medicaid, privately insured and the uninsured.
Lee County Ambulance Service will decide the order of transport as
well as the availability of transporters.
2. If it is necessary to utilize the Rescue Squad as a
transporter, the Hospital will be notified of the use of that agency
far enough in advance of the move that the Hospital may arrange to
have a nurse accompany any patient that has an infusing IV
medication.
3. The County will bill for services rendered by ambulance
service and will be responsible for collection for such accounts
except that when Hospital has an inpatient who needs to be
transferred to another facility for either a test or treatment and
then returned to Hospital, then Hospital will pay the cost of that
transfer in keeping with the ambulance services fee structure.
4. Hospital will contact the ambulance service as soon as it
knows there is a physicians' order to transport a patient. On Monday
through Friday all calls will go to the Sanford Police Department,
and on Saturday and Sunday the calls will be made to 776-4711.
