Brown Road. After some discussion Commissioner Cox moved to approve <br />the following resolution and authorize the Chairman to sign: <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A POLICY FOR <br />OPTIONAL RELOCATION ASSISTANCE <br />LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />WHEREAS, the County of Lee is the recipient of funds under <br />Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 for a <br />Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program in the Beulah Brown <br />Road Target Area; and <br />WHEREAS, under this program the rehabilitation of dwellings <br />primarily for low and moderate income persons will sometimes cause <br />temporary dislocation of these persons from their dwellings; and <br />WHEREAS, under this program, there are occupied, dilapidated <br />dwelling units which are unfit for human habitation, not feasible <br />structurally or economically to rehabilitate, and must be demolished; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Part 570.496(d) of the Uniform Relocation Act for <br />Community Development Block Grant Programs governing relocation <br />permits a CDBG recipient (grantee) to devise and implement an <br />"Optional Coverage" Relocation Plan wherein benefits can be extended <br />to occupants of dilapidated units which are subject to removal <br />through local code enforcement activities in the absence of <br />real property acquisition, or 2) residents that are temporarily <br />dislocated from their properties; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of such relocation benefits shall be to <br />acquire standard quality replacement housing or to cover costs <br />associated with moving; and <br />WHEREAS, an Optional Coverage Relocation Policy Manual has been <br />developed by the County, such policy available to the public for <br />inspection; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the County of Lee does <br />hereby adopt a policy for providing "Optional Coverage" relocation <br />benefits, such policy to cover any and all financial obligations <br />incurred during the relocation of affected persons. <br />3 <br />
