The Planning Board's second alternate will also be <br />unable to serve on this Commission. Mr. Barefoot appeared before the <br />Commissioners to ask them to appoint another person to serve as Lee <br />County's representative. After much discussion it was decided that <br />an individual living in the southern end of the county would be a <br />more appropriate person to have on this Commission. Interested <br />individuals would contact Bert Matthews and she will report back to <br />the Board at the next meeting, at which time an appointment will be <br />made. <br />3. Karl Lewis requested additional time to satisfy a <br />conditional use zoning requirement. The original deadline for Mr. <br />Lewis to submit a certified letter of credit to the Board of <br />Commissioners was December 1, 1992. He was asking for an extension <br />to satisfy this request. After much discussion Commissioner Garner <br />moved to give Mr. Lewis an additional three months (90 days) to get <br />the necessary certified letters of credit. Commissioner Reives <br />seconded the motion, and upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: Dossenbach and Stafford <br />vote. <br />The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted by a five to two <br />The Board considered a request from the City of Sanford to pay <br />fifty percent of the damage done to city streets during the <br />construction of the jail and courthouse. Mr. William Cowan, County <br />Manager presented to the Board a letter and ordinance establishing no <br />parking on a portion of Courtland Drive, and an Ordinance <br />establishing no parking on a portion of Elm Street from the city of <br />Sanford. The Board of Aldermen have agreed to enact the ordinances <br />if the County agrees to pay fifty percent of the damage done by <br />trucks during construction of the jail and courthouse. The <br />ordinances would allow trucks to use a certain area on Elm Street. <br />After much discussion Chairman Stafford appointed Commissioners <br />Dossenbach and Reives as an Ad Hoc Committee to take care of future <br />matters such as this. Mr. Cowan, County Manager was instructed to <br />set up a meeting with the City to discuss this issue further. No <br />action was taken on the request. <br />The Board considered Budget Amendment # 12/07/92/10, a copy of <br />which is attached to these minutes, and upon this reference, made a <br />part hereof. Commissioner Reives moved to accept the Budget <br />Amendment. Commissioner Garner seconded the motion, and upon a vote, <br />the results were as follows: <br />6 <br />6 <br />
