V. PRESENTATIONS <br /> A. Sandhills Center's Request to Appear to Discuss FY 18-19 County General Funding <br /> and Program Updates <br /> Victoria Whitt, CEO of the Sandhills Center, provided information on the Annual <br /> Community Report for 2017, Quarterly Report January 2018, and funding requests for the <br /> upcoming 18-19 fiscal year. The Sandhills Center Board made the decision for the 14th <br /> year in a row to not request any addition funding from all of the nine counties. The present <br /> funding request is $240,000.00. No action was taken. <br /> B. FY 2018-2019 Recommended Budget Presentation <br /> County Manager John Crumpton presented his Recommended Budget for FY 2018- <br /> 2019. The recommended budget is $75,094,325, which is an increase of$3,897,017 from <br /> the 2017-2018 budget. The County Manager provided a PowerPoint presentation on the <br /> budget, which included an outline of the reasons for the increase, projected revenues, and <br /> historical comparisons. Following discussion, Commissioner Knecht moved to vote on the <br /> budget on June 18th to allow time to consider the budget. Commissioner Reives stated he <br /> did not want to commit to the 18th if everything is reviewed and finalized beforehand. <br /> Commissioner Knecht withdrew his motion. The Board proposed to have a Budget Work <br /> Session at 5 p.m. on June 4, 2018, hold the public hearing, then discuss the budget <br /> afterwards. Commissioner Reives moved to hold a public hearing on the FY 2018-2019 <br /> Budget June 4, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br /> Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br /> Nay: None <br /> The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br /> Commissioner Reives moved to hold a budget work session at 5 p.m. on June 4, <br /> 2018. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br /> Aye: Dalrymple, Dodson, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sharpe, Sloan <br /> Nay: None <br /> The Chair ruled the motion had carried unanimously. <br /> VI. OLD BUSINESS <br /> A. Annual consideration of the contract with the Sanford Area Growth Alliance <br /> In October of 2014, Lee County executed a contract for economic development <br /> services with the Sanford Lee County Partnership for Prosperity. Since 2014, the County <br /> has continued to fund the SLCPP for these services. Per Section 3 of the contract, the <br /> contract is to be reviewed along with the membership representation by the Board of <br /> Commissioners on an annual basis. County Attorney Whitney Parrish recommended <br /> holding a public hearing on June 4, 2018. Last year the contract amount was for $270,000. <br /> This year's request is $315,000. Commissioner Sloan moved to hold a public hearing to <br /> consider appropriating funds to the Sanford Area Growth Alliance for economic <br /> Page 318 <br />
