Mr. Hobbs provided details and
pictures of several projects including the Emergency Services Training Center, Veterinary Medical
Technician Building, and the Dennis Wicker Civic Center Phase I Addition. Most projects were nearing
completion pending certificates of occupancy. Projects such as the Veterinary Medical Technician
Building came in under budget and are expected to be completed on schedule. Dr. Phillip Price
provided an update on the amounts of bond premium and investment earnings. The bond premiums
included $558,397 for the Health Science Center, $420,000 of this will be used to move the dental
clinic, $321,332 bond premium for the Veterinary Medical Tech Building, $347,417 for the Civic Center
Renovations, and $257,065 for the ESTC and Main Campus Renovations. Dr. Price mentioned certain
items that may need to be addressed to prevent and minimize expenses in the future such as parking
lot resurfacing, thermostat replacement, and roofing needs. He also added that the College currently
rents space for the large animal program, which will soon no longer be available, thus they are looking
at areas to relocate this program. The Board of Commissioners will need to take action by way of a
budget amendment to apply bond premiums to these identified needs.
Page 113
