CO3 <br />LEE COUNTY <br />ao0U(D, GQOOao <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />BUDGET WORK SESSION <br />OF THE <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />106 HILLCREST DRIVE <br />SANFORD, NORTH CAROLINA 27330 <br />JUNE 2, 2011 <br />s� <br />The budget work session of the Lee County Board of „Commissioners for the County of Lee, <br />State of North Carolina, convened at 10 a.m. in the Gordon,,Wicker Con�`ferrence Room, First Floor, Lee <br />County Government Center, 106 Hillcrest Drive, Sanford, Nortl�'Carolina, on said date. Commissioners <br />present were Richard B. Hayes, Larry "Doc” Oldham, Charles T. Pa Nathan E. Paschal, Robert T. <br />Reives, Linda A. Shook, and James K. Womack, Jr. Staff present included County Manager John <br />Crumpton, Assistant County Manager /Finance Director Lisa Minter, County Attorney K. R. Hoyle, and <br />Clerk to the Board Gaynell M. Lee. <br />Chairman Shook called the work session,t <br />Commissioner Reives moved to appoint M. /Allison Goodwin to the Rest Home - Nursing Home <br />Advisory Board effective immediately. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Hayes „Oldham, Parks, Pasch I, Reives, Shook, and Womack <br />Nay: N,- � � Y <br />The Chairman ruled the motion � had-been adopted unanimously. <br />County Manager John`Crumpton discussed with the Board various joint contracts the County <br />has with the City of Sanford. Joint agreements discussed in detail included the Planning Department <br />Agreement,.Taz Collections for thejCity of Sanford, and Animal Control, <br />rumpton stated he felt the County could set up a Planning Department for less than <br />r year which would include a Planning Director, Planner, Grants Writer, and Code <br />Officer. ;Various matters involving the joint Planning Department were discussed. <br />Mr. Crumpton stated the Tax Department has been cut one position in the upcoming budget and <br />he feels Commissioners need to restudy a change to the 1 % collection rate the City of Sanford pays the <br />County for the collection of City taxes. <br />The Board discussed the Animal Control budget. The County asked for the City to pay $78,000 <br />in the upcoming fiscal year for Animal Control services and they have only agreed to pay $64,000. After <br />much discussion, it was agreed that the Animal Control agreement is the first and most important item <br />with the City that needs to be resolved at this time. <br />
