The building is old,
very expensive to heat and cool, very difficult to ensure security for students
and equipment, and substandard in numerous ways.
40,000 sq. ft. @ $200 per sq. ft. = $8,000,000
0
New Allied Health Education Center:
Most of the medical providers in our community, including Central Carolina
Hospital, are experiencing a shortage of nurses and other medical support
personnel. CCCC cannot increase enrollments with current facilities, which
are at maximum usage. The new building will increase the number of
graduates in nursing, medical assisting, certified nurse assisting,
phlebotomy, as well as making it possible to add new medical specialties.
40,000 sq. ft. @ $235 per sq. ft. = $9,400,000
(The cost per sq. ft. is higher because the cost of laboratories is higher in a medical
training center.)
Prices take into account the current construction costs inflation rate of
approximately 8 - 9% per year. This is an approximate cost if construction
begins in 2009.
Lee Early College High School:
The two buildings above would relieve crowding on the campus, and
o provide additional space options to accommodate this new high school
which will grow to 400 - 500 students by 2010.
r~ v.
