D. <br />X Information <br />Action Item <br />Meeting Date: August 13, 2007 Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: School Bond Referendum <br />DEPARTMENT: Administration <br />CONTACT PERSON: John Crumpton, County Manager <br />REQUEST: To discuss the informal request from the Lee County schools to <br />consider a bond referendum. <br />SUMMARY: An informal request has been made by Dr. McCormick, Lee County <br />School Superintendent, for the County to consider a bond <br />referendum for the renovations at Lee County High School, <br />renovations and repairs at East & West Lee Middle School, and the <br />construction of a new elementary school. The amount requested is <br />approximately $55,000,000. County Manager John Crumpton and <br />Finance Director Lisa Minter have met with Davenport & Company <br />to identify the potential impact of the $55,000,000 bond referendum. <br />$25,000,000 is requested for the renovations of Lee County High <br />School. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): (1) Preliminary Capital Funding Analysis dated August 8, 2007 <br />prepared by Davenport & Company, LLC <br />(2) Lee County High School Schedule <br />(3) Information related to a new elementary school <br />(4) FY 2008-2012 Capital Improvements Program Project Summary <br />PUBLIC HEARING: None <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: None <br />RECOMMENDATION: Discuss options and ability to fund future capital projects. <br />l'~J <br />
