~K <br />2 <br />15 °hSE 06 <br />The Board discussed the recent request from the Northview <br />Volunteer Fire Department to employ a paid employee. Several <br />individuals were present to speak for/against the request. <br />Commissioner Garner moved to grant the individuals present the chance <br />to speak on the issue. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously <br />and the floor was open for a public hearing. <br />Robert Millikin, President of the Northview Volunteer Fire <br />Department spoke in favor of the request. <br />The following individuals spoke in opposition to the request: <br />Joel Lemmond, 1403 Spring Lane; Tommy Matthews, 728 Colon Road; Wayne <br />Matthews, 824 Colon Road; Jerry Lemmond, Authur Maddox Road; Dorothy <br />Sloan, 1438 Colon Road; and David Thomas, 2028 Riddle Road. <br />Commissioner Matthews moved to close the public hearing. Upon a <br />vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />Commissioner Dossenbach moved to vote on the issue of the <br />Northview Volunteer Fire Department request at the January 19, 1993 <br />Board of Commissioners meeting and not to hold an additional public <br />hearing. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Paschal, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: None <br />The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />After further discussion commissioner Reives moved to deny the <br />Northview Volunteer Fire Department request to hire a full time paid <br />employee. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dossenbach, Garner, Matthews, Reives and Wicker <br />Nay: Paschal <br />The Vice Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted with a five <br />to one vote. <br />The Board next considered the rule of procedure allowing <br />informal public comments.
