o1J
~Ovl 15 4.3
Greensboro, representing Ernest and Jane Miller, spoke in favor of
the rezoning request. If rezoned, four or five small industries
could go on the site. He stated that at this time he has no
prospects for the property.
The following individuals spoke in opposition to the request:
R.W. Craig of 615 McNeill Road; Max Hall of 5537 Cumnock Road; Eddie
Taylor, Jr. of 5312 Cumnock Road; and Jerry Lemmond of 6915 Authur
Maddox Road. All of the above individuals are property owners near
the proposed site and had concerns as to what would be placed on the
site. Concerns were also expressed concerning discharge into Deep
River.
F. Petition by Sargeant Aylies, representing American
Tower Plastics, to rezone from Residential Agricultural District to
Light Industrial District a total of 2.44 acres of land at 3415
Hawkins Avenue.
Sargeant Aylies of Carolina Trace spoke in favor of the rezoning
request. His company wishes to build an additional building on the
proposed site and would like this section of land to conform with the
rest of the property.
Allen Smith of 1019 Northview Drive, had concerns about noise,
due to the fact he sleeps during the daytime and works third shift
and attends school. Mr. Smith had been assured by Mr. Aylies there
would be no more noise than there currently is and the company plans
on putting up a fence between Mr. Smith's property and the property
in question to keep individuals from walking through. Mr. Smith was
satisfied with this.
Scott Swindell of Adcock Associates appeared before the Boards
and stated this was an oversight that happened in 1990, when the
rezoning ordinance took place in the county.
No one spoke in opposition to the request.
Commissioner Matthews moved to close the public hearings. Upon
a vote, the results were as follows:
Aye: Garner, Matthews, Paschal and Stafford
Nay: None
The Chairman ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously.
At this time the Board of commissioners moved to another room,
separate from the Planning Board, to take up an additional matter
that had come before the Board.
The Board considered a request from R. B. Lemmond, Jr.,
concerning a rezoning request for the Daniel's Creek Estates
8
